Happy (totally belated) St. Patrick’s Day!!!

IMG_4902What better way for a few Irish people to spend St. Patrick’s Day than to go The Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg!?! I am sure there **are** better ways to spend the day, but we are boring. But at least we wore green – much to my dismay (and I am sure my grandmother is rolling in her grave) because St. Patrick actually wore light blue and I didn’t have a light blue shirt. Drat! Oh well.

Mom and I carted the boys off because they were COMPLETELY thrilled to go look at gardens. I may or may not have bribed them. Anyway, it was actually a really beautiful area and the boys seemed to not totally hate it. There were some birds that we tried to get to talk – T actually sang The Wheels on the Bus to it. Not kidding. Would I really make something like that up!?! It is T! They also fed some very fat and content koi. We saw one that kind of reminded us of our old family cat….huge. Really huge.

We decide to grab some lunch – and found what seemed like a good place. Well….until we sat down and looked at the menu. It was ALL burgers. I don’t eat beef. T doesn’t eat….well, lots. Andrew and mom eat burgers but went with the only non-burger choices – hot dog and corn dog. T got fries and I got tater tots. Lunch of champions. Since we were in St. Pete, I figured we should head to the area we used to go and get pictures of the boys when they were little. Man, have things changed!! The whole plaza is different! Not sure how dad copes since Ben & Jerry’s is gone. They have a market now – which is cool…except for the whole fish staring at me when I walked in. **ick** To get that fantastic site out of my mind, we went to the amazing kopek tree!! I love that tree. I even love the noisy green parrots and the kamikaze flowers that drop off and try to kill you. Reminds me of being with the boys….wait, I was! Double the fun! They climbed a little – apparently it is tough in slides and flip-flops. Wimps….I climbed trees barefoot when I was their age (the tree was uphill and I did it in a snowstorm!). That was pretty much it in St. Pete….aren’t we a thrill a minute??

As for the rest of the day, in true Irish form, we …. did nothing. Really. The boys swam and then I think we just did whatever for dinner. Rich was back home for a couple of days so there was no chef on site! We are just a barrel full of fun monkeys!

On a personal note (which is funny because aren’t blogs kind of personal?) I would like to say a REALLY belated HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to one of the best couples I know!!! I love you Cassandra (and Will)!
